ABOUT MY WORKS
MIXED MEDIA ART

My works are made of layers. Some of them are made of paper, and others made of various techniques. Acrylics, pastels, wax crayons and many others. “Mixed Media is a techinique that offers endless possibilities. It allows you to play with materials, forms and ideas, abolishing the conscious use of “exact” rules. It is a technique that allows to be instinctive and rational at the same time. With paper you have to be patient and gentle, a work can be ruined at any time even by small errors such as too much glue, a wrong paper or others. To make these works I had to learn many things about the paper. Each paper has its own character, reacts differently to the glue. There are some that “blend” with the glue, some which are “rebellious”, and others that you have to pay a lot of attentionbecause they change appearance when the glue dries up.In my work there are papers of all types such as mulberry, rice paper, fiber, tissue paper, origami paper and many others.I think I’ve looked at every site that sells paper and have traveled the length and breadth of New York City in search of shops where they sell the most precious papers. But the best thing is that many of my works are made with paper that I make by myself using techniques such as mono print or gelly plate to create different textures. I usually use rice paper to which I add layers of color. An artistic collage can for example be made of newspaper paper, clippings of illustrations, fragments of texts, pieces of colored handmade paper, photocopies, drawings, prints, patterns, manipulated images, old prints and so on, combined without attempting to disguise fragmentation and multiplicity. I believe that the multiplicity and the details are the most important things in an artistic collage and it is for this reason that I put a lot of care in toggling the materials, the colors, the inclusion of details in precious materials such as gold (for this detail I chose to use a wax gold, an Italian product used for precious holy icons) or handmade papers from all over the world. Every time I see a texture, a background, or something interesting I scan it and keep it aside to be able to use it in my work, so in 20 years as an art director I built an incredible archive of images, those made by me, some bought, some found by chance and so on.I have worked all my life with colors, shapes, images. But the paper has given me the opportunity to enrich my experience of other layers, unexpected, unexplored and beautiful. I prepared all my works with all the care and love possible, with passion and enthusiasm, hoping that all these things can enter in the homes of those who will buy my work and also for this reason I pay attention to using precious and acid-free materials.

DIGITAL ART

Digital art is an artistic work or practice that uses digital technology as an essential part of the creative process.
Artworks are considered digital painting when created in similar fashion to non-digital paintings but using software on a computer platform and digitally outputting the resulting image as painted on canvas. This includes images done completely on computer or hand-drawn images scanned into a computer and finished using a software program like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Painter.
Mostly of my works are made starting from photos that I take, some of them are collage made by many different photos and then processed and repainted digitally
Also in these works I create different levels whit many different software (sometimes I get to have over 50 different levels).
Digital art is a long process, which requires many days of work, and requires skills in the use of software, many of which are very complex, even in this case my long experience as an art director has given me the opportunity to begin this fascinating journey.
The final result is a digital file that can be printed and reproduced on canvas or paper in open or limited editions depending on the size.
